Nanotechnology at NIOSH


NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) is, among others, “conducting research and providing guidance on the occupational safety and health implications and applications of nanotechnology” and has a dedicated page on its website.

Among recent news :

* NIOSH is leading the formation of a workshop by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) on the assessment and mitigation of workplace exposures to nanomaterials. It will be held on October 20, 2008 in Frankfurt (Germany).

* Four NIOSH researchers are part of the recently created International Alliance for NanoEHS Harmonization (IANH) (see this post).

Additionnally, on the NIOSH Science Blog, can for example be read an article about the following debate : “Should carbon nanotubes be handled in the workplace like asbestos?
